I’ve been in the IT industry for nine years and it’s been an incredible journey. My first job was an internship which turned into a full-time job for a small tech company in the Sacramento area. It was a great start to my IT journey and one that I will always cherish. My next job was as a tier-1 network contractor in Merced installing and doing basic configuration of new network switches. My team would document all the rack layouts and, on cut-over days we’d replace all the old equipment. In 2017, I landed a Help Desk position in Colusa, and that’s where my skills as an IT tech really took off. It was an amazing experience where I had the opportunity to learn so much; from specific department programs such as accounting, medical, public works, and security to learning different hardware such as servers, audio/video equipment, and antennas. This all helped me improve my skills as an IT Help Desk employee. Three years later, I became the System Administrator and the team lead at this company. The highlight of being a system administrator was the ability to create and configure my own server rack which became our production equipment once completed. I was also in charge of cable managing all the existing wires. I have also helped improve our teams’ performance by implementing a ticketing system. Although I have come a long way in the past nine years, there is still a lot more to learn as IT is a forever-changing industry so I am currently studying to attain my CCNA certification Eventually, I want to get into Cyber security. This is only the beginning of so much more to come for me and I hope you all come along with me!
Hobbies:
I’m a self-proclaimed grill master and I love to create new recipes. Home-made burgers and street tacos are my specialty, but I love to grill/smoke just about anything I can. My family and friends are often my test subjects when I create a new recipe. In 2019 my IT team and I won the company rib cook-off using my recipe and that was a very proud moment for me. I also enjoy the occasional game session. Some of my favorite games are Fallout New Vegas, Resident Evil, and who can forget the retro games like Super Mario and Donkey Kong. I grew up on music and was a choir team lead throughout high shool so I love to sing and can play the piano and the trumpet, while currently trying to learn how to play guitar. Please feel free to ask any questions to learn more about me.
